MARDIPLO had the honour to attend the exceptional event hosted by the ICC International Chamber of Commerce – ICC Greece at the historic Athinaiki Lesxi on Tuesday, 25 November. The evening focused on “Geopolitical Developments and Their Impact on the Economies and Trade of Our Wider Region”, bringing together leading national and international figures for a discussion of truly high strategic value.
The event featured insightful contributions from Evangelos Venizelos, Professor of Constitutional Law and former Minister and Deputy Prime Minister; Dimitris Avramopoulos, Member of Parliament and former EU Commissioner and Minister; Ioannis Valinakis, Professor of International Relations and former Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs; Dimitris Dafnis, President of CBS – Cosmos Business Systems; and Spilios Spiliotopoulos, former MP and Minister of Defence.
Adding a global dimension, Perrial Jean Nyodog, President of ICC Cameroon and head of the state shipping company GULFCAM, along with Vice President Georges Njoya, delivered a special address highlighting Africa’s strategic role in today’s shifting geopolitical landscape.
The discussions touched on a wide range of issues: the new strategic direction in the United States under President Trump, the evolving situation in Ukraine and Russia, the complex dynamics of Greek Turkish relations, regional developments involving Bulgaria 🇧🇬 and Syria 🇸🇾, the ongoing challenges of migration and demographic decline, and the future of energy through emerging compact nuclear technologies.
The breadth of topics reminded us how interconnected geopolitical developments are with trade, stability and economic growth.
