MARDIPLO’s initial 2024 field trip was to the booming city of Dhaka in Bangladesh in the first week of February, shortly after the national elections in January 2024.
Dr. Mary Papaschinopoulou and Mr. Neofytos Kourtesis, founding partners of MARDIPLO, were invited to deliver a lecture at the Foreign Service Academy, the prestigious foreign affairs and diplomacy training institution in Bangladesh, which brings together diplomats from the country and the wider South East Asia and Africa. The insightful and interactive lecture and case study, entitled “Blue Corporate Diplomacy – Magic Bullet or Rabit Hole for Modern Diplomats?”, was a kick start for the diplomats attending from 6 different countries.
While in Dhaka, MARDIPLO also had high level and very fruitful discussions with the Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation BPC as well as two outstanding companies of the thriving Bangladeshi private sector, The Deshbandhu Group and The Dipon Group.
MARDIPLO also had the honour of visiting the Royal Danish Embassy in Bangladesh to discuss the importance of corporate diplomacy in resolving complex and long-standing maritime disputes.
Overall, it was a very productive week after 5 years of excellent cooperation between MARDIPLO and the public and private sectors in Bangladesh in the field of maritime corporate diplomacy. MARDIPLO looks forward to deepening this mutually beneficial business relationship in a spirit of trust and good faith.
