Dr Mary Papaschinopoulou, MARDIPLO’s co-founder, was honoured to meet with H.E. Mr. Zuhair Ensour, Ambassador of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan to the Hellenic Republic. The meeting was held at the premises of the Embassy in Athens, on the 5th of March 2024.
Jordan, just like Greece, is a nation with a rich maritime legacy. Its main emblematic port of Aqaba, dates back to the Iron Age and continues to be of great strategic importance to the Middle East region and beyond. The two nations are known to have strong and long-standing diplomatic ties in the maritime affairs sector which was a great starting point for this fruitful dialogue.
Through this insightful and warm exchange, both Dr Mary and H.E. the Ambassador, explored from a fresh perspective the innovative realm of ”Blue diplomacy”. This new tool proves to be critical in navigating through the turbulent waters of the modern-day maritime challenges, but also serves as a catalyst for fostering cooperation between countries.
