On the 5th of March 2024, MARDIPLO’s co-founder Dr. Mary Papaschinopoulou, had the honour of meeting H.E. Mr Mansour Saad Al Olaimi ,the Ambassador of the State of Kuwait to the Hellenic Republic, at the premises of the opulent Embassy in Athens.
Kuwait is a strategically located country with a long coastline, whose economy relies heavily on the maritime sector. Its ports serve as crucial hubs connecting to major ports worldwide through vital shipping lines. This interconnected network not only facilitates seamless trade but also positions Kuwait as a key player in the global economic arena.
Both Dr Papaschinopoulou and H.E. the Ambassador recognised ”Blue Diplomacy” as a crucial bridge between nations and a transformative tool offering innovative solutions to ever-rising contemporary maritime challenges. This shared understanding laid the foundation for prospective cooperation in dispute resolution in the maritime sector as well as the training of young diplomats in blue diplomacy.
We are extremely appreciative for H.E. the Ambassador’s interest in MARDIPLO’s scope of work and look forward to MARDIPLO’s further interaction with both governmental and private institutions in Kuwait.
