On 2 October, Dr. Mary Papaschinopoulou, Founding Partner and Director of MARDIPLO SA, had the honour of paying a courtesy call on H.E. Ambassador Çağatay Erciyes at the Embassy of the Republic of Türkiye in Athens.
Türkiye is strategically located at the crossroads of Europe, Asia and the Middle East, making it a key hub for global trade. Today, Türkiye is increasingly focused on the maritime sector, with notable growth in shipbuilding, shipbreaking and maritime transport, in line with the country’s long-standing seafaring traditions.
The meeting provided a valuable platform to showcase MARDIPLO’s innovative reframing of classic diplomacy to meet the needs of shipping for a time-, cost- and reputation-saving alternative to litigation in commercial maritime disputes amid heightened geopolitical tensions.
Both Ambassador Erciyes and Dr Papaschinopoulou found common ground in their shared academic and professional backgrounds in maritime affairs and went on to discuss MARDIPLO’s “Blue Corporate Diplomacy Training Programme”, which aims to equip young diplomats and government officials with the expertise to meet future challenges in the Blue Economy.
We would like to thank H.E. Ambassador Erciyes for the welcome and engaging discussion. We look forward to future cooperation through economic diplomacy and innovation.
